Freezer Cooking: Breakfast Burritos

Just imagine the wonderful aroma!

In Freezer Cooking: Marinades, I explained how Money Saving Mom has inspired me to start cooking ahead.  This is something I tried for a short while a couple of years back, but I didn't stick with it.  This summer I am embarking on a number of freezer cooking experiments, in hopes of being stocked by the time I return to work in August.

My latest attempt at freezer cooking came from Money Saving Mom (MSM) herself: Freezer-Friendly Breakfast Burritos.  Let me tell you, these are AWESOME!  Here are all of the ingredients you'll need to make them, and you can click above to get the full recipe.

  • butter
  • onion
  • green pepper
  • eggs
  • milk
  • ham or sausage
  • salt & pepper
  • cheddar cheese
  • tortillas

Ben loves spicy foods, and I had sausage on hand from a sale stock-up that needed to be used, so I did substitute Farmland Hot & Zesty Sausage Links for the ham.  The final product tasted exactly like the breakfast burritos offered for $1 each at a certain clown-friendly fast-food chain, and the entire batch of 18 probably cost right around $5 to make.

To save a little extra money, I also reused the two zippered bags that housed my tortillas originally, and only had to use one of my own.  I noticed that MSM had done the same with her burritos, so I can't even claim that great idea as my own : )

All ready for the freezer.
