Shopping Haul 4/30/11

Son #2 accompanied me shopping today, which was fun even though it slowed things down a bit.  We shopped at Dillons (2 trips and 3 transactions), JC Penny, Aldi, and Wal-Mart before finishing our day with lunch from Sonic.

Just a couple of notes this week.  I think most of my printables are no longer available, but try my coupons links to the left and below of my blog posts to check and find lots of other savings : )  Also, remember that Dillons doubles paper coupons up to a maximum of $1 in value, so that is included in my math.

  1. I thought I'd heard somewhere that when Dillons has their 10 for $10 sale you had to buy 10 items. McPherson Dillons didn't have something I wanted that was included in the 10 for $10 so I asked if I had to buy 10 items. The helpful employee said no, I could buy just one if I wanted and still get it at the $1 price. I knew that was the policy at Scott's and was happy to find out it also is at Dillons.

  2. Pam, that's exactly right. In fact, anytime Dillons advertises a certain number of items for a certain price (i.e. 3/$5), you get that price per item no matter how many you purchase. The only exception is when they have a "mega" type event, where you have to buy a certain number to get a dollar amount off of your purchase. Frequently it's a 10 item deal where you have to buy that number of "participating items" to get $5 off your total (or $.50 per item in other words). The key is to look for the language specifiying you must buy a certain number of "participating items" in the sale description, because it will always be there in those types of sales : )
